Silvio Carta is a 3rd generation family-owned award-winning Sardinian wine and vermouth producer. In the early 1950s, Silvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro, focusing on production of the traditional Sardinian wine Vernaccia di Oristano. Silvio is credited with bringing wine production to Sardinia and was also the first to produce Vermouth on the island. Carta’s skillful winemaking and signature Chestnut barrel aging techniques have helped nurture his wine and Vermouth into a Sardinian treasure. Silvio was joined by his son Dr. Elio Carta in 1972, who now runs the company following his traditional production methods with an emphasis on every aspect of the process being authentically Sardinian. At 91, Silvio still manages the family garden where all the herbs and botanicals for the vermouth are grown and picked at peak freshness. The ethos of the company is to showcase the wild wonder of Sardinia while having as little impact on the local environment as possible incorporating ethical farming practices and a 100% solar powered production facility. Silvio Carta remains a family run enterprise, with the third generation joining at the helm to help build and expand while maintaining the reputation of excellent craftsmanship and celebration of Sardinian heritage the brand is renowned for. <\/p>\n
